Eat More Nuts, plus 5 Other Foods to Improve Your Sex Life

3 minutes to read

Walnuts, cashews, almonds, and hazelnuts are just a handful of the most popular nuts in the U.S., but as it turns out, Americans aren't eating nearly enough of them. In fact, according to a 27-year-long study analyzing the world's diet, inadequate consumption of nuts and seeds is the second most important risk factor for deaths related to diet in the U.S.

But consuming more nuts may do more than just keep you alive and healthy longer. If you're a man, snacking regularly on nuts can improve your sex life, according to a recent study published in the journal Nutrients.

During the 14-week study, two groups of men ate the same Western-style diet, but one of the groups added 60 grams, or about two handfuls, of nuts to their daily food intake. Researchers found improved sperm quality in the group who consumed nuts. That group also reported better orgasms and increased sexual desire.

One benefit of nuts for sexual function is that they contain numerous antioxidants, along with a hefty dose of L. arginine, which promotes the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a compound that increases dilation of the blood vessels to improve blood flow, and it's essential for strong erections.

Nuts also improve endothelial function. Endothelium in the walls of blood vessels helps improve the balance between contraction and dilation of the vessels.

Other Nutrients to Improve Sexual Function

Nuts are just one of a number of nutrients shown through research to improve your penis function, sexual desire, and performance. Here are a few others.

Spinach is packed with folate, which is a powerful blood-flow booster. In fact, a folate deficiency is linked to erectile dysfunction. Spinach also helps to boost testosterone levels, which can help improve your sex life.

Avocados are rife with vitamins, potassium, and healthy fats. Vitamin E and zinc are two nutrients in avocados that are known to have positive effects on libido and male fertility through increased free testosterone levels and better sperm quality.

Spicy peppers.

Chile peppers can increase your testosterone levels, according to research. The chemical capsaicin, which gives peppers their heat, triggers the release of feel-good chemicals known as endorphins, which rev up your sex drive.

Wild oats have long been considered an aphrodisiac, and oats in general contain amino acids that relax the blood vessels and can improve erectile dysfunction. Oats also contain L-arginine, which promotes the relaxation of the blood vessels of the penis to help you maintain an erection and reach orgasm.

Tomatoes have been shown to improve sperm concentration and motility, and they may be beneficial for sperm quality. Bonus: Tomatoes contain lycopene, which is beneficial for your prostate health.

The best diet for sexual health is one that's mostly plant-based and includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. Avoid processed food, which can cause a range of general and sexual health problems.

Supplement your diet with Predoxen, which contains zinc, L-arginine, and other ingredients proven through research to benefit your sexual health. A daily dose of Predoxen along with a healthy lifestyle can improve your libido, strengthen your erection, and increase your energy in the bedroom.
